Welcome to the online presence of the 'Star of the North', the magazine from the Parish of St John, in Jersey, Channel Islands. (‘Old’ Jersey!)
St John is one of the twelve ‘parishes’ on the island of Jersey, largest of the Channel Islands, situated in the English Channel, south of England off the coast of Normandy, France. Originally belonging to the duchy of Normandy, following the Norman Conquest in 1066 the Islands remained faithful to the English crown when King John lost Normandy in 1204.
You may recognise the Parish emblem, the Maltese Cross of St John. For further information regarding the Island and its Parishes please feel free to visit the States of Jersey website at www.parish.gov.je or the Jersey Tourism site at www.jersey.com.
Star of the North is published three times a year, and our aim is to record the present and past activities of our beautiful, cliff-edged, rural parish, and to feature some of the local personalities that make St John what it is today!
We have been in existence since 2003, and with your support we hope to grow and flourish.
This site not only provides open access to the latest edition of the magazine but our Archive Section contains most of the previous editions of the magazine. You will require Adobe Reader in order to view the files.
We welcome you to our website initially as a reader, but for those of you that may like to contribute, either by writing an article, advertising or perhaps just with the deliveries, please feel free to email the editor or complete our online enquiry form that can be found on our contact page.
Together, we can all add to our Parish way of life!
